
Isabella M. “Billie” Lambert died in Lawrence, Massachusetts on July 30, 2018. A first generation American, Mrs. Lambert was born in Lawrence on December 16, 1923, daughter of Vincent R. and Margaret (Maloney) Bowes. She graduated from St. Augustine’s School on Tower Hill, Woodbury High School, class of 1941, and at age 74 earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing at the UMass/Lowell.

Billie was a senior commercial underwriter for American Auto Insurance Co in Boston. In 1967, she joined the Gordon C. Brainerd Agency in Billerica as office manager, retiring in 1988. A year later she returned to work at the agency, on a part-time basis, until her final retirement at age 82.
As a member of St Augustine’s Parish, later Our Lady of Good Council Parish, she had been a member of the parish council, a lector, and eucharistic minister. She was a long time member of Quota International of Lawrence and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 8 and the St Clare League of Catholic Women.

Mrs. Lambert is survived by her daughter, Margaret Rourke, of Methuen; her grandson Colin Rourke of Nashua, NH and his daughter Sydney Rourke, her grandson Patrick Rourke of Rockville, MD and his wife Abigail Brunt, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins in England, Ireland and this country. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Alice Wamsley and Lucy Barrasso, a niece Anne Marie Walsh, and her former husband Rene T. Lambert.
